16th Arrondissement

The Sixteenth arrondissement is located on the Rive Droite (Right Bank) of Paris. It contains Paris’ second largest park, which makes it a particularly open and green arrondissement for Paris apartments. The Sixteenth is also renowned for its number of museums, some of which are centered on the famous Trocadéro. These museums make the Sixteenth a great place for Paris apartments that are culturally alive. The Sixteenth, with its sports venues, is also an extraordinary area for sports fans.

The Sixteenth’s praised Bois de Boulogne makes it an ideal area for a beautiful luxury Paris apartment. The park surrounds the entire western portion of the arrondissement, and is large enough to swallow Central Park more than twice over. In keeping in line with its heritage as a royal hunting forest, it is minimally landscaped, and thus keeps an air of wilderness. Its size permits for horseback rides, as well as bike rides, along its kilometers of dedicated paths. The Bois also contains a number of lakes that attract Parisians with the intention to relax during the summer. A perfect beginning or ending to a day in the Bois de Boulogne can be had on the terrace restaurant of the Bagatelle. It is even well worth staying into the evening and enjoying a cocktail between friends as the sun sets. With all of this, who wouldn’t want to have the Bois as the backyard of their Paris apartment?

Besides the Bois de Boulogne, the Sixteenth also has a respectable array of museums, which are all within reach of a Paris apartment in the area. Quite a few of these museums are held within the Palais de Chaillot of the Trocadéro area. They include a maritime museum, a museum of humanity, and a museum of cinema. Outside the Palais are the incredible Trocadéro fountains that face the Seine and the Eiffel Tower. For those more interested in Impressionist and

Post-Impressionist art, however, there is the Musée Marmottan Monet with its vast collection of Claude Monet works. Indeed, it holds the largest collections of Monets in the world. The museum also contains works of art by Manet, Gauguin, and Renoir. For more modern and contemporary art the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris inside the Palais de Tokyo is worth visiting. The museum straddles the Seine and contains over 8,000 pieces of art from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including works by Picasso, Matisee, Modigliani, etc. The Sixteenth also contains two museums dedicated to Asian art. The first, the Musée national des Arts asiatiques-Guimet, houses one of the largest Asian art collections outside of Asia. It has a collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain, and also contains many religious artworks. The second one, the Musée d’Ennery, matured from a private collection to a public one in the nineteenth century. Another interesting museum of the Sixteenth is the Musée Galliera, which focuses on fashion history. Within it are collections that range from the outfits of the Queen Marie-Antoinette to Audrey Hepburn. The collections even include accessories, including jewelry, hats, and purses.

When it comes to sports venues Paris apartments in the Sixteenth have few equals. From the Sixteenth it is only too easy to access the Stade Roland Garros, the Parc des Princes, and the Stade Jean-Bouin. It is of course at the Stade Roland Garros where the legendary French Open is played each year. It goes without saying that this stadium has hosted legendary battles between the greatest tennis players of all time, and has recently become the home of Rafael Nadal. For football/soccer fans there is the Parc des Princes, which serves as the home of Paris Saint-Germain. In this stadium it is also possible to see the French national side play matches. Finally, the Stade Jean-Bouin, which hosts the Stade Français team, will be a favorite of rugby fans. Clearly Paris apartments in the Sixteenth are in the midst of a sports heaven.
